For the past 21 years, I’ve been able to manage my hemophilia A. I’m grateful for the support of the community and for where I am today.

Mateo, 22 years old

  • Texas
  • University student
  • Patient with severe hemophilia A on ADVATE prophylaxis since 2003

My hemophilia A story

  • I was the first in my family to be diagnosed with hemophilia A; we then moved to the US from Guatemala to access better treatment
  • As a child, I attended a hemophilia camp and even learned to self-infuse while there. Since then, the hemophilia association and my treatment center have become like a second family to me
  • I hope to give back to the bleeding disorder community by volunteering at the camp I went to as a kid and inspire them to thrive

Why I choose to stay on ADVATE

  • While experiences may vary, ADVATE is covered by my insurance, and it has been readily accessible to me
  • Takeda provides educational resources to the community about ADVATE that have been useful to me in my journey
  • I intend to continue with my current ADVATE prophylaxis treatment, as it’s been working for me

My experience with ADVATE

  • I started using ADVATE when it first became available in 2003, and now I infuse every other day
  • I’ve been infusing for so long that it has become a predictable part of my routine, and I don’t have issues remembering to infuse
  • ADVATE has worked well for me for the past 21 years, helping me prevent bleeding episodes using a prophylaxis regimen

  • ADVATE has been on the market for 21 years, and it has an established safety and efficacy profile for on-demand and surgical use. I appreciate the long history of ADVATE and knowing it will be there when I need it

Hypothetical patient based on a real
patient story

My trust in ADVATE and its legacy is critical to me. ADVATE has worked well for me, and my experience has convinced me to stay on it.

Jenna, 41 years old

  • New Mexico
  • Registered nurse
  • Hemophilia A patient using ADVATE on demand for more than 15 years

My hemophilia A story

  • As a child and a teenager, I experienced abnormally prolonged bleeding after dental procedures and was told that I bleed more than most people
  • It wasn’t until my infant son was diagnosed with severe hemophilia A that I was diagnosed with hemophilia myself, which shed light on both my son’s condition and my own bleeding experiences. I was relieved knowing that there was an explanation for my lifetime of symptoms
  • After that, I established a treatment plan with my HCP that aims to control excessive bleeding in the case of surgery, significant injury, or recurring bleeding episodes
  • Since I began treatment for my hemophilia A, I have been able to control my bleeding

The reasons I stay on ADVATE

  • ADVATE has an established efficacy and safety profile, which has been very important to me
  • My treatment regimen can be personalized to specific situations, such as infusing before an invasive procedure to help control bleeding
  • I also feel confident that my FVIII levels can be measured with routine assays, which can be used to monitor the control of my bleeds during surgeries or other procedures
  • I trust ADVATE as the most widely used FVIII therapy in the US.* With my 15 years of experience using it, I’m confident in my treatment plan to control my bleeding

*Based on units sold as of July 2022.

My experience with ADVATE

  • For more than 15 years, I have used ADVATE on demand to control my bleeds, and find it to be right for me
  • I have infused ADVATE before major surgery or minor procedures such as dental extraction, and it has helped control bleeding. Using ADVATE on demand also helps me control my recurring bleeding episodes
  • In the event of a minor injury, I can also self-infuse with the goal of helping to control my bleeding
